Remember the saying that talks about this? Indeed a true thing that I came to understand over years.
There were days when we used to write stereotype code to do the same thing over and over. It was called software programming. People had the necessity to simplify their lives and an 'edison glow' kicked in and got the brand term of 'reusability'.
Then we go ahead and invent a multi-tier application development where we have reusable components and glad that our developers had to write little less code and go home early. Downside! Maintenance? Another pain point and then again a remote reusability.
Now we are at Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and great to see things moving on that way. All said, what is the next challenge? Connectivity? Security?
Lets look at inside the shop. We still have someone writing stereotype code. Lets get away from it. Utilizing all the possible technology solutions available today across various programming languages, there isn't a chance of writing source code anymore. It is more of a design world than a development world.
The next challenge of the technology is to maintain its growth path and get stronger to accomomdate portable devices.
All said, lets get ready for the next revolution round the corner and wait and watch! |
